Lei mi parla ancora (100’)

Italy, 2021

Based on the memoir of the same name, Lei mi parla ancora by Giuseppe Sgarbi the film involves an important cast and earned Renato Pozzetto a special Nastro d’Argento for his performance. The film tells the love story of Nino and Caterina — an elderly couple married for 65 years. When Caterina passes away, Nino’s world falls apart, and their daughter — Elizabeth — desperately tries to help her father overcome his grief. Elizabeth asks Amicangelo— an aspiring writer — for help to write out Nino’s memories of his late wife. Amicangelo finds himself infatuated by Nino’s love story — despite clashing with his personality.

“With Lei mi parla ancora I wanted to tell the story of a great love, the one between Nino and Caterina, a love that lasts 65 years, a love that lasts beyond death. The narrative pretext is a book of memoirs that the protagonist, widowed, decided to publish by entrusting a Roman ghost writer, who’s ambitious and disenchanted. And it is precisely in the dialectic between these two characters, apparently so different from each other, that I saw the opportunity to address the presence of our land and its wonderful past, in that part of Emilia so special that has been able to retain, alongside modernity, the great charm of its past. Of its many memories. I told the story of our land, our people, through yet another different angle. To continue to give meaning to our work.”
